We are targeting Kikao representatives from across the 47 counties, sub-counties, constituencies, and wards who will receive customized training, mentorship, and support to engage their communities in civic education.
We are committed to building a new generation of leaders across Kenya. We must join forces to wholeheartedly support this effort, educating and empowering the citizens to make better decisions and actively participate in leadership roles. The 1st of June 2024 marked a significant shift in how protests are organized and what they achieve in Kenya. Previously, protests were based on political personalities and opposition parties who called for, organized, and financed young people to go on the streets. The Reject Finance Bill 2024 protests were organic, leaderless , peaceful, and powerful.
Unfortunately, the government responded with force resulting in hundreds of young people dead and thousands of others injured. Rex Masai was the first young person to die at the hands of police, his name will forever remain etched in our memories.
Kikao is a volunteer movement that seeks to inspire and bring together a new tribe of Kenyans who are progressive and align with our call for transparent and accountable leadership. It aims to empower and capacity-build regular people to be leaders today! It is a home to nurture and build a community of leaders. We are just people.
